Product - External Sculpture Group:
Title: "Elemental"
Elemental follows in the path of my existing sculpture designs.
There is a greater philosophy to my current work, which is reflective
of an ancient belief in the way that the world began. It reads
as follows:
In the beginning there was "Nothing". Nothing met "Something"
and together they formed an "Egg". The Egg hatched and
"Life" began.
My sculptural shapes take on this concept with curves that are
either positive or negative or ones that are reminiscent of the
Egg. To this end I see them as representing the "Birth of
New Possibilities".
The four Elements proposed are grouped in such a way so as to
reflect an aesthetic balance and harmony within the space they
stand in.
Flare stands alone and is the single entranceway beacon. It stands
four metres high and is illuminated with a cooling blue light.
The grouping of Axis, Cascade and Air is intended to provide a
more interactive engagement with the viewer.
Each group will be placed on a 2.5m diameter concrete base. The
concrete will be stained with a black dye to achieve the darkest
black effect possible.
