Brief:

Design images that reflect the history of aviation in the local region taking into account the Gloster Aircraft company originally located in Brockworth and Sir Frank Whittle, designer of the first UK jet aircraft.

Product 1 - External Sculpture:

Title: "Whittle In Flight"

Two 2m high stainless steel sculptures entwined during an in flight maneuver as if racing upwards.
The profiles of the planes are based on the Gloster Pioneer E28-39 which is the first jet aircraft to fly designed by Sir Frank Whittle in 1941.

Material: 316 stainless steel in brushed finish.
 
Product 2 - Internal Wall Mounting:

Title:  "Spirit of Brockworth"

Glass panel measuring 2m wide by 1.5m high.
The mirrored glass panel reveals a map of Gloster as it was in 1956. Inlaid behind the map are images of the Gloster E28_39, Meteor F.MK4, Gladiator II, Hawker Hurricane II and Javelin F(AW)MK1.
